Important Regulations

• Photos must be high quality and clear
• No editing/photoshop is allowed
• Judges will be able to see any amendments made to images and entry will be instantly disqualified
• No logos/watermarks are allowed
• No photos should be posted on social media before results
• Maximum of 7 photos – 2 before / 4 after

You will be judged on

• Creativity
• Application of Technique
• Did it evoke the Theme without explanation?
• Color choices, did they work together
• Originality
• Blending technique
• Use of makeup palate, gems, feathers, or glitter ect.
• Overall Look, did your design get translated throughout
• Does the look push the boundaries in experimental or innovative?
• How would this look apply in runway, fashion advertisement, beauty magazine or a specialized photo shoot to be monetized
• Was this look achieved using professional quality cosmetics that are safe for the skin and your model?
• How did the artist utilize their time and efficiency?

Bridal

• Color Matching
• How was the skin prepped and taken care of prior to the makeup application?
• Show what references or inspiration the bride or you chose for the makeup look created.
• Remember color when creating the makeup look – The makeup needs to have enough color to compensate for the whiteness of the dress
• How were the other areas of the body blended with the face? Did the bride have a fake tan, was makeup brought down on the neck, decollete, and shoulders to blend with the face?
• False lash application (strips or individuals)
• What techniques were used to create a longer-lasting look? (prolong wear)

Blending Technique

• Will it Photograph well? (Avoid SPFs as it does not look good in flash photography)
• Was the time of day considered as well as lighting available when creating the look? What adjustments need to be made for the location and climate?
• Overall Look, Did your design match the theme of the wedding and meet the desire of the bride
• What would you send your bride with for touch ups throughout the day?

CORRECTIVE / CAMOUFLAGE

• Color matching
• How was the skin prepared? How did the skin have special needs? (Acne, rosacea, blotchy pigmentation, vitiligo, eczema, scars)
• Did the artist soothe the skin and properly hydrate before applying makeup?
• How did the artist use brushes and tools to achieve the look?
• How did the artist shift the focus from the corrective work to an emphasis on another attribute of the face?
• How were shape tricks used to make a feature more prominent or projectable?
• How was the face shape interpreted?
• How was the contouring technique utilized?
• How was the highlighting technique utilized?
• How was the color-correcting technique utilized?

BLENDING TECHNIQUE

• Is it Correcting or Covering? (Did the artist use the correct layering techniques to achieve a natural look?)
• Does it look like skin or just makeup?
• Is this an everyday look?
• How would you teach the client to execute this look?
